OK, I’ve had a go at being in the present moment with my lunch, so now what? (Mindful Eating, where to from here?)

 

You’ve heard of mindful eating, and you’ve given it a go, but you’ve come to a point where you’re not quite sure where to go from here. The road to being a mindful eater isn’t as straight forward as you’d expected! So what’s the next step?

 

Mindful eating is a wonderfully complex skill that constantly evolves your understanding of your body as it changes, moment to moment, day to day, year to year. It’s also a completely neutral skill, it doesn’t tell you when you must eat, or when you must stop, and it doesn’t tell you that some foods are bad or good. Mindfully eating simply gives you information about your body and your experience in the moment. The complexity of this information, and what you can do with it is where things can start to get a little bit more complicated on your mindful eating journey, and this is where it can be tricky to figure out the next step ahead!

 

Interpreting the information your body is giving you, and then using that information to make choices around when, what and how much you eat, can be hugely helpful in increasing your ability to make choices that make your body feel good!
