Accredited Practising Dietitian
Maria Spanos APD, BNutr&Diet (HonsII)
Maria is a compassionate dietitian working under the Non-Diet Approach to help individuals let go of diets and find freedom with food. Her areas of interest include working with individuals struggling with Binge Eating Disorder, disordered eating patterns, yo-yo dieting, body image concerns, and Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS).
Maria gained her passion for this work through personally experiencing the freedom, wellbeing and complete transformation that comes from moving away from preoccupation with dieting and weight. She works to empower clients to redirect their time and energy away from food and body obsession and towards what truly matters to them.
Maria strives to create a supportive environment for individuals of all backgrounds and life experiences, and welcomes those from the LGBTQ+ community. She recognises that there is no one-size-fits-all method of pursuing health, and is guided by clients’ own lived experience.
Maria is a member of the Association for Size Diversity and Health (ASDAH) and Dietitians Australia (DA).
In her spare time, you’d most likely find Maria at the dog park, enjoying live music or relaxing with a good book.
Maria is available for face-to-face and telehealth consults on Monday and Thursday at the Hornsby Practice and Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday at the Sydney CBD Practice. To book an appointment with Maria please click here.
