Accredited Practising Dietitian

Maria Spanos APD, BNutr&Diet (HonsII)

Maria works under the non-diet approach to help clients let go of dieting, address their body image concerns, find joy in movement and eat in a way that is enjoyable and sustainable. Having personally experienced the negative effects that can come from healthcare providers not being able to see past body weight and size, Maria is committed to providing truly weight-neutral care. As an emerging dietitian, she hopes to help clients achieve the greatest health possible while encouraging them to live life free from preoccupation with body weight and food rules. She is passionate about working together with clients to help them develop skills and strategies to feel confident making their own positive choices for their health and wellbeing.

Maria strives to create a safe and supportive environment for clients of all backgrounds and life experiences. She recognises that there is no one-size-fits-all method of pursuing health, and is guided by clients’ own needs and goals. She believes in the power of different elements of wellbeing, including physical, social and psychological, coming together to create pictures of health that look different for each unique individual.

Maria is a member of HAES Australia, the Association for Size Diversity and Health (ASDAH) and the Dietitians Association of Australia (DAA).
